Jasper County lands $2.5 million investment from carousel manufacturer

OCT. 23, 2015 — A leading manufacturer of customized and rebuilt carousels for industrial applications will move operations to Ridgeland where an affiliate plans to build a 40,000 square-foot facility, state officials announced Thursday. The $2.5 million investment by AS/R Systems Inc., will generate 11 new jobs.

Nikki Haley. “This $2.5 million investment and the 11 new jobs it will create is a terrific beginning to a partnership between our state and this great company.”

The new facility will be located in the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park, which is inside the S.C. Lowcountry Promise Zone. The SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance is lead organization for the Zone.

“We chose Jasper County for the relocation of our Illinois operation because the location offers excellent access to markets via I-95 and the Ports of Savannah and Charleston,” said AS/R owner Doug Robertson. “In addition, Gov. [Nikki] Haley, Jasper County Council and the economic development team have provided a business-friendly community in which our company can grow.”

SouthernCarolina Alliance Chair Buddy Phillips remarked, ““SouthernCarolina Alliance appreciates AS/R Systems’ investment in our region, and we appreciate the jobs that this new operation will create.”

Jasper County Council Chair Barbara Clark welcomed the company.

“Our county government will do everything we can to create the best pro-business environment for this project because we believe that every job created improves the quality of life for a family in our area.” she said.
