HARDEEVILLE, SC – Carolina Metal Castings, a full-service provider of after-market metal castings, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Jasper County. The project will result in 13 new jobs and an investment of more than $3 million over the next five years.

In operation for more than 40 years, Carolina Metal Castings is a full-service jobbing foundry that specializes in custom and limited production work. Producing its own tooling in-house, the company also completes its own moldings, castings and heat treatments in-house. Read more

Community development training set for July 13

Walterboro  will host a training session inside the Promise Zone on July 13 for people interested in learning more about community development.

The S.C. Association for Community Economic Development (SCACED) will hold the training event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. , July 13, at the Colleton Commercial Kitchen, 506 E. Washington St., Walterboro, S.C.  The session, called “Engaging Strategic Partners in Community Development,” will feature trainer Robert Cooke and his team from the Southeast Georgia United Empowerment Zone Inc.

The training will focus on how rural municipalities can develop their communities and improve their economies.  In addition to presentations and facilitated discussions on building connections among local governments and other partners, the day-long event will feature development by participants of basic action plans to allow them to take the next steps for community development in their communities.
