Nupi Americas, Inc., to start warehousing, distribution operations
OCT. 22, 2015 | Nupi Americas, Inc., announced today it would invest $4.9 million in Hampton County to establish warehousing and distribution operations for piping and air-conditioning systems. Over the next five years, the business is expected to generate 37 new jobs, according to state officials
“It truly is a reason to celebrate when a company decides to invest in one of our rural counties,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. “We have always made it a priority to show the world that all of South Carolina is open for business, and Nupi America’s investment in Hampton County does exactly that. We’re thrilled to welcome Nupi America to the South Carolina family, and look forward to watching its operations in Hampton thrive and grow.”
The company will be located in an existing 50,000-square-foot building in Early Branch. It should be operational by the second quarter of 2016, officials say. Nupi Americas Inc, a subsidiary of Nupi Industrie Italiane S.p.A., manufactures and markets NIRON, a complete polypropylene pipe and fitting system for the distribution of hot and cold water in plumbing and air conditioning systems. The company’s Hampton County operations will focus primarily on its NIRON product line.
“We appreciate Nupi Americas’ investment in our region,” said Buddy Phillips, chairman of the SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance, which is lead organization for the Promise Zone. “Their new facility just off I-95 will be a successful one for both manufacturing and distribution, and we look forward to their success and prosperity in the Southern Carolina region of our state.”
Marco Genoni, president and CEO of Nupi Americas and CEO of the parent organization, said the Houston-based company also picked South Carolina to develop future products.
“The new facility, located in the Southern Carolina Industrial Campus, will be the hub to manufacture and distribute products to our oil, plumbing and HVAC customers,” he said. “We would like to thank all of the local and state institutions who helped us to achieve our expansion goals on schedule. We are extremely pleased with the cooperation between all of the economic development institutions and how they are well disposed to welcome industries in their territory, providing support at all the levels.”
Hampton County Council Chairman Shedron Williams said the community appreciated the company picking the area for its new operations.
“Every job created affects a family in our area, and we believe that job creation is critical to improving our quality of life,” he said. “The members of Hampton County Council look forward to welcoming this Italian company to our region, and we will assist in any way that we can to ensure the best start up and operation for this manufacturer.”
