Allendale wins $6 million biomass investment, 35 new jobs

Thunderbolt Biomass, Inc., a manufacturer of wood pellets from sawmill residuals, is launching new processing operations in Allendale County, according to news releases. The company is planning to invest $6 million in the project, creating 35 new jobs.

“Companies come to our state and invest in our people because of all our state has to offer, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for Thunderbolt Biomass in Allendale County,” Gov. Henry McMaster said. Read more

Cypress Creek Renewables investing $8 million in Allendale County

Rural communities need to seize opportunities

People in rural counties across South Carolina know the challenges they face.

They know about their high poverty, higher than normal unemployment, challenged schools and need for better health care facilities. They understand how their tax rates are higher than urban areas because of the lack of a broad industrial tax base to help fund local services.

But they also know these problems can be solved. They just need more resources, better infrastructure and more collaboration to get things done. Read more
