NEWS:   Town halls will be held today (Nov. 16) in Barnwell, on Thursday in Allendale and Monday in Hampton to brief leaders and interested parties on what’s been happening in the Promise Zone.

COMING EVENTS: The S.C. Arts Commission’s Susan DuPlessis will be part of a free Thursday webinar on how to strengthen rural development through cooperation.  Take a look below and join the one-hour presentation online..

USDA Rural Development invests $113.1 million in zone since 2015

16.scpz.newsThe U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program has invested $113,116,539 in counties of the South Carolina Promise Zone since 2015, according to agency records.

Investments included grants and loans to programs that had applied for funding through and outside of the Promise Zone initiative, as well as agricultural and housing grants awarded in other initiatives.  A summary is offered below: Read more →

New resources, webinars, funding information for the S.C. Lowcountry Promise Zone

PromiseZone_logo_80wIn this new issue of our periodic newsletter about Zone opportunities, you’ll learn about a great new opportunity for communities to win support through the CommunityWINS grant program. It’s not part of the Promise Zone initiative, but it fits perfectly with the kinds of things being done in our Promise Zone.

Other new funding opportunities include programs for nonprofits, rural development grants for housing repairs, telehealth grants and healthier meals for students.

There are also several webinars on subjects as diverse as the Affordable Care Act, racial healing, retirement options for small businesses, USDA applications, and capacity building.
