Group seeks grant applications for $1.5 million Lowcountry Ministries Fund

16.0405.candleThe non-profit Palmetto Project is asking for community organizations serving Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, Jasper, and rural parts of lower Charleston and Beaufort counties to apply for grants from its $1.5 million Lowcountry Ministries Fund.   The Promise Zone includes Allendale, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties.

Directions on how to apply can be found at http://www.palmettoproject.org and must be received by 3 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016.

Promise Zone to hold March 23 broadband workshop

The S.C. Promise Zone will offer a Broadband Workshop March 23 to focus on improving broadband services and opportunities in our six-county region.

Multiple federal agencies, charged with improving broadband services in rural areas, will present information on federal resources, funding, technical assistance, best practices and more.  A wide variety of broadband projects will be covered including infrastructure, telemedicine and distance learning. New funding opportunities and resources for the S.C. Lowcountry Promise Zone

Great new starting resource available through HUD

PromiseZone_logo_80wTo provide Promise Zone communities with a better idea of current, future and past funding opportunities, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has compiled a list of funding and technical assistance opportunities of the Promise Zone partner agencies.

There are more than 90 different entries in four tabs of an Excel spreadsheet includes a list of:

  • Programs that provide priority points or priority consideration.
  • Programs that do not provide preferences but will help further the goals outlined in Promise Zone plans.
  • HUD NOFA (Notice of Funding Availability) Forecast.
